Described by Quentin Tarantino as “an offbeat dreamboat”, Singer, Songwriter, Musician, and Producer Omar Doom recently released the Straight Razor single, Casualty through the imprint Doom Vision Records. The production is an eclectic fusion of dark electronic beats, haunting rhythms, mysteriously playful melodies, and chilling vocals. Casualty, an artistic kaleidoscope of sounds, impresses upon fans with a syncopated percussion. The beats march aggressively yet with poise across the track, taking hold of listeners one signature at a time.

The music video for Casualty, which dropped on September 27th, features model Vilena Poterba. Pushing the boundaries of creativity, the cinematography is equally as fascinating, embodying elements from decades past and striking realities from the present. The visuals convey arthouse vibes with bold storytelling, accentuating the song lyrics and amplifying the sound factor.

Reality Cuts Deep
Through the distinct nuances of the production, what is also evident is that Omar Doom has a poignant message for audiences. Doom shares, “As we navigate this life, we adapt to the unspoken rules of society, becoming casualties of the ways of the world”.
Fans may recognize Omar Doom from films like Inglourious Basterds. Having worked with his industry colleague and friend, Quentin Tarantino, Doom carved a unique path and style of music. After receiving a BFA from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City and Paris, Omar laid roots in LA to launch a clothing company with his sister. After achieving film success with several roles, Doom locked into music, a calling since his early years as a songwriter and instrumentalist.
Omar describes his latest endeavor, Straight Razor as a mix of “dark wave, techno, and ebm” that “cuts through the speakers with menacing beats and hypnotizing clockwork melody” (Omar Doom). After two previous releases under the STRAIGHT RAZOR moniker, Vol. 2 EP in 2021, and Vol. 2 in 2022, Omar launched a series of album remixes, STRAIGHT RAZOR-REMIXED, under his label.
Straight Razor Casualty is the second single from Omar Doom’s upcoming album release of the same title, scheduled to drop, appropriately on Friday the 13th in December, 2024. On the heels of the album release, Straight Razor will kick-off a global tour in support of VNV Nation. The tour begins on February 5, 2025.
