Interview with Ricardo Del Rio

We checked in with DJ and Producer Ricardo Del Rio about his latest project The Remix Album. Get the details in our interview below.

How long have you been performing?

I started as a vinyl records DJ in my country when I was 13.

Can you share with us a little bit about how you got your start in music?

I always loved American music like party songs by House of Pain, I tried learning these song lyrics.

As an artist who has traveled all over the world, where are some of your favorite cities to play?

I studied live percussion very early and have had great opportunity to perform in South Beach Miami which is my favorite city in the states.

What would you say is the greatest difference between performing in front of a live audience and being inside of a studio?

The energy you get from the people is so fun when I play live percussions during house and tribal arrangements the movement to dance it’s crazy.

What inspired your latest single release “For Her”?

Initially I was in Mexico and like I said producing music I created these sounds on reason with many new plugins and was going through some very emotional times with a young lady because I travel alot and wanted to show her in my music I appreciated so much the time we spent together and of course Omar being very good with english language I think his voice is incredible so I sent him the idea, concept and explained to him since my native language is Italian to speak I mean rap very clear and make it fun so he did a good job on the original version but I love the remix much more because I recorded his voice and spent many hours on the synths the ambience of the song to make it more perfect.

You have an entire album out now, titled “The Remix Album”, what are some of your favorite moments on the project?

We recorded the song For Her Remix in Miami and had a great week, eating out at different restaurants, getting to know the lyrics more.  Listening on different monitors and really dissecting the sounds of Elan Noelle she is an amazing singer I want to meet her one day the label is very independent and we still strive to be very big not only in the states but in UK Spain all over the world.

We understand that you are a producer and also a DJ as well as a percussionist, are there any other collaborations on your album that fans can expect?

I just released a very good song with a very good singer her name is Kelly and the song is called “Happy” it’s not on the album but its very good i work on 1 song for a very long time until I am satisfied with the outcome. Every song is very good. Thank you so much.

If there were three words that you could use to describe your sound, what would they be?

Electro, house, club.

Who are some of your music inspirations?

David Guetta, Jim Breese.

Are there any other artists that you hope to work with in the future?

Yes I would like to do more remixes for labels who have good talent.

What is on your personal playlist right now?

I have so much new house music in my iTunes i listen to.

2018 is about to wrap up, do you have an upcoming shows or projects that fans should be looking out for in the coming year?

Yes I am working on a different house version of the song “Happy” right now so when it’s ready I can let the world hear this as well.
